A True Welsh Ghost Story
We live in a 17th Century farmhouse near Mold in North Wales UK. We moved into the house in February 1997. We soon became aware of the apparent "presence" of a friendly ghostly monk. We called him Brother Doli, short for Adolphus. We hear footsteps on the staircase and landing at all times of the day and night. We also experience something sitting on the end of the bed at night and shuffling around as if to get comfortable! We have seen our spook on a few occasions. Since January 1999 Brother Doli has communicated by stains and carvings on our walls and woodwork. These are in the shape of Welsh religious words, crosses and monks! This phenomena is on going and scarcely a week goes by without another stain or carving. We have made three TV films about the strange events in our home. One TV researcher was also a Welsh "sensitive" who claimed to be able to communicate with our monk. He told us that Brother Doli was murdered on the riverbank outside our house in 1613. The deed was committed by a soldier on horseback. Our monk felt our family would be sympathetic towards him. He has a particular affinity with our 15 year old son John-Paul. John-Paul has Down's Syndrome and claims to see Brother Doli all the time. Obviously, one must question this, due to his learning
difficulties we cannot verify this statement. However, we have been told that people like John-Paul are more in tune with phenomena like this. One remarkable spin off is my new found talent for computer assisted art. Basically, one uses the "mouse" instead of a paintbrush and ones imagination does the rest. Until my 50th Birthday in January, I did not have an artistic bone in my body. I was given an art program for the computer and I gave it a go. Low and behold, I was able to produce abstract pictures that are very unusual and saleable. I had an exhibition of my work over the Easter weekend at a local craft center. Occasionally, when I am creating my art work I find that my hand is at rest on the mouse, yet it is all going on on the screen! I do feel that the atmosphere in our house has something to do with my new talent! We have tried to discover the nature of our "haunting". As yet, no natural explanation has been found. These events are not frightening and the house has a very friendly atmosphere.

Rose-Mary writes, "The above are two attachments as promised. The picture is called "Dream Time" and has proved quite popular. It is copyrighted. The photo is of a stain of a monk that appeared on a stone wall at the top of our staircase about 12 months ago. Two days later a carving in the shape of the Welsh word MYNACH (monk) materialized. The carving did not look new and was weathered like the rest of the stone! We have a photo proving the carving had not been there when the stain of the monk first appeared!   Rose-Mary Gower
