 Los
Angeles Investigation!
~
I Jim Eaton went to Los Angeles on May 19th thru the 22nd, 2000. I had a great time, met with several team members and did two investigations and several hunts
around the LA area. The spookiest experience was sleeping with a ghost on the
Queen Mary.....More on that in a bit! I also want to thank
those of the Queen Mary for my accommodations. They furnished me with an Executive Stateroom for two
nights with no cost to myself. It was quite the experience! I arrived in LA on Friday
May 19th and I was overwhelmed by how busy it is there! Oh, and the Freeways.......what
an experience trying to get around! My home town of
Sacramento is bad but nothing like that! Anyway, I had a really nice rental car with good air conditioning, so what the heck. During my stay, I would be
meeting up with several team members. Carolyn, Fran, Jim & Bruce.
MY FIRST NIGHT -
(FRIDAY NIGHT INVESTIGATIONS)
I spent the day with
Carolyn & Fran......we verified addresses, checked all the equipment and
added fresh new batteries to everything! Carolyn called ahead for detailed
instructions to a private residence in Hollywood that was arranged for us to
investigate that evening. Carolyn gave instructions to have the temperature cool
for our arrival. We would be doing the Hollywood Investigation first at 8:00 PM
then off to the Queen Mary for an Investigation that would start at 11 PM. PRIVATE
INVESTIGATION (HOLLYWOOD)
We arrived at the Hollywood
residence for this private investigation close to the designated time. (okay, I
admit it, we were 30 minutes late!) This
residence was the scene of a murder several years ago where the husband killed
is estranged wife and left her dead on the stairs that lead from the upstairs
bedrooms. This has also been the location where an apparition has appeared. The
other occurrences have been blinking lights, problems with electrical appliances
and light bulbs going out constantly. There has not been much activity reported lately.
We begin.....Carolyn began using the thermo scanner to check for temperature
variations within the residence. Fran checked everything with one of the EMF
meters. I began by moving some of the living room furniture around to disrupt
things a bit. It usually gets a ghosts attention when a stranger comes in and
starts moving things around! (that's a ghost hunters secret so don't tell
anyone) Fran began getting disturbances in the electromagnetic
field. This could mean ghostly activity or a strong power source (it was above
the coffee table in the middle of the living room). I'm not sure about the
source,
and
the other meters did not register anything substantial. I grabbed my camera to
start taking pictures in the area but to my amazement, my flash would not work! I
had just added 4 fresh new batteries that day and they were now drained! I had
to actually borrow 4 AA batteries from the residences (how embarrassing) The new
batteries worked fine and I began taking pictures. Note:
It's not unusual for batteries to suddenly drain on an investigation. It's
usually a sign that you're not wanted! Anyway, our time was limited so I snapped
two rolls of film and stayed in close contact with those holding the detecting
devices. I also placed a recording device upstairs to try capturing some EVP (electronic
voice phenomena) and I did get one voice, can't quite make it out though.
Click for EVP
I finally introduced myself and my team to any visitors (ghosts) that
might be present. I stated what we were doing and apologized for disrupting
things. We took a few more pictures and moved all the furniture back to it's
proper place. We would not know for a few days what the pictures would reveal.
Actually, I
now have the pictures back and the photo results of this investigation. You are welcome to view the pictures
by clicking here. There is one with an apparent
presence on the stairway and an energy rod going out an upstairs window.
Now
it's off to the Queen Mary... LATE NIGHT
INVESTIGATION OF THE QUEEN MARY
We arrived at the Queen Mary at
11 PM (Carolyn, Fran & myself) and checked into our respective rooms and then quickly
met in my room to prepare for the investigation. I had a very nice room
(compliments of the Queen Mary). They furnished me with this room for two nights because
of the investigations I would be doing there. They were very nice to us and also
offered us a behind the scenes investigation that night to some of the restricted
areas of the ship. These areas included the pool where many ghostly disturbances
have been reported. While there Carolyn saw an orb whiz by with her naked
eye and I caught one on video speeding by Fran's leg. A psychic acquaintance from Washington State emailed me that we might encounter the
presence of a ghostly girl named Jacqueline Tourin. (goes by Jackie) We never
seemed to make contact with her but this psychic told me she called out
to me twice while I was there but I never knew it. She also told me that
this ghost girl (Jackie) wants her doll back. I was told that the doll may still
be in existence. I will look into the possibility of getting it back, otherwise
I have been given specific instructions on what type of doll it was and where to
get a replacement. I'll be working on that soon and I'll see to it that the
original or a replacement be taken to the ship by my team and placed in the
nursery where Jackie is waiting to receive it. Of course when that day happens,
we will work on getting some EVP and photos of the occasion to show everyone. Hey, I know this all sounds strange, but I feel when this
mission is complete and the doll is returned or replaced to the nursery we will
have proof that our efforts were not in vain. Now back to the pool....we did not
get much in the way of unusual disturbances on any of our detectors in that area
expect one small
room by the pool. I was however able to pick up the sound of a man calling out
what sounds like "Mary" . Upon leaving the
pool area we toured many areas of the ship with our guide Daniel and on our
travels I took several pictures of my team members from behind in the event that
I might possibly capture ghostly presences following along......and I actually
did! Here is one of an anomaly attached to Fran's
face! Well eventually we made it to the boiler room and to the infamous door
13! That is where a ships crew member (John
Pedder) was crushed to death when he tried to squeeze through the
automatic closing door. It is suspected that he might have been trying to see how many
times he could go through the door before it actually closed completely! Many sightings of him have been reported and they now have a live
Cam
posted and aimed at that door for all to watch for Johns ghostly appearance via
your computer. See the Queen Mary web
site for that and other fascinating facts about the ship. While in the
boiler room Carolyn developed hard & angry feelings and could not stand to be
in that part of the ship.....More on that in Saturdays tour report of the
ship.....also read below about how I slept with a ghost during my last night on
the Queen Mary! SATURDAYS NIGHTS CEMETERY
INVESTIGATION
We started Saturday's adventures by meeting up with a
good friend and fellow team member Jim H. By the way, Jim will be reviewing many
of the ghost photos I receive from now on and believe me, his services &
talents are greatly
appreciated! We explored a cemetery in the Hollywood area and then went out to eat
lunch at the "In & Out burger" where else! :)
Anyway, I'll get to the point here....that evening we explored a cemetery near Carolyn's
house, it's a fairly well know place called "Hillside Memorial Park"
many famous people are buried there including Michael Landon, Dinah Shore, Moe Howard (the 3 Stooges), Jack Benny
and Lorne Greene, to name a few. Well, the gates close at dusk which is fine
because many ghost hunters have gotten their best ghost pictures just in front
of the gates
and outer perimeters
of cemeteries around the world. (another ghost hunters secret) And this night was no exception....I was able to get a great shot of
streaming anomalies, click here to see that picture. Also while
there Fran registered a sudden drop of temperature at one point near the
cemetery fence from 70 degrees to 40 degrees. Also when Jim H. was checking for temperature
variations he found an area where the temperature dropped from 68 to 30 degrees!
(38 degree drop!) That was so amazing! We used the rest of our film up in that spot but Jim's
developed prints came out pitch black and mine came out with lot's of orange smears. I can't explain the results.
I include a picture of this orange smeared energy beyond the trees where we were
standing. Click here to see
picture. Let's move on to the Queen Mary... BACK
TO THE QUEEN MARY (THE NIGHT I SLEPT WITH A GHOST!)
We explored the Queen Mary again Saturday afternoon and I captured some strange
yellow energy on the right side of one of the photos. The design of the energy
is most unusual! You can see this photo by clicking here. While we were
in the boiler room on the self guided tour, Carolyn again began
to experience hard angry feelings. I then remembered that my our psychic contact
in Washington had
also told me in an email that we might experience hard feelings while in the boiler
room. I
told Carolyn that I just remembered that I had been cautioned that this might happen. Well
that was enough for her, she led us out of there in short order.....she felt
fine once we were out of the boiler area. That was really freaky, especially since
I was told ahead of time about that possibly happening in that part of the ship.
well Anyway, after many wonderful adventures that day and into
the night I said my goodbyes to Jim, Carolyn and Fran and headed back to the
Queen Mary sometime after midnight. Carolyn & Fran would not be joining me there that night. When I arrived back to the Queen Mary I
was amazed at the crowds of people and dozens of limo's! I was finally able to park and
make my way up to my room (B 479)
and walked in. I couldn't help but think about being absent from my two team members
this night. (I'm braver when others are close by) Daniel
of the Queen Mary had told me he would arrange to have me stay in one of the reportedly
haunted rooms. I had wondered if that was the case because the night before was perfectly calm. Everything appeared normal as I entered and I began to pack my
bags for my departure to another location in the morning. I began to have an uneasy feeling that I was not alone in the room....I ignored
the feeling and got my laptop out to check my email.....I then began to smell a mild
scent of
tobacco. I ignored this also. (Keep in mind that there is no smoking on the
ship)
I was again reading my mail when the smell returned and it became progressively
stronger! I immediately jumped up and said "what!" The smell left
again......I was sitting there worrying about the smell coming back (some Ghost
Investigaor huh?)....Hey, I know it would look strange if the ghost investigator went running down the hall yelling
ghost! Then of course it wouldn't look good if I slept in my car either! Well, as I was
pondering these things, the smell again returned, stronger than ever! I again
jumped up and this time I grabbed my camera and snapped some pictures (prints
came out normal) then went to set on the other
side of the room for awhile. I was reading a magazine when the smell found me
once again....it was so
strong I thought I was going to gag! I got up and set up the camcorder and aimed
it at my bed and decided to either make a run for my car or do some deep breathing
exercises and go to bed. I went to bed. I lay there and as I always do in a
haunted location, I prayed a prayer of protection. After my prayer I turned off the lights
and tried to sleep. (to escape) Almost immediately the smell of tobacco
returned. it wasn't just a tobacco smell either, it smelled and felt like someone
blowing tobacco smoke in my face continually! The smell became so strong that I again thought I was going to
gag! It was after 3 AM by this time and I was dead tired.
I placed the covers over my head and all seemed well until I felt it under the
covers with me! The blowing of smoke as well as the strong gagging scent. I
found that if I breathed deeply it helped me to not gag......I then
surrendered myself to sleep. Upon awakening in the morning I found all to be
well and the smell and the feelings were gone. Thinking back on the night
before, for all practical purposes.......I slept with a ghost on the Queen Mary! Quick
update: I was told by my psychic contact had asked the
ghosts of the Queen Mary if one would pay me a visit while there. She mentioned
that she received conformation that a smoking boy paid me a visit and had played
a prank on me. The other thing, I have yet to watch the video of me sleeping, if
there is something on film I might be better off not knowing. SUMMARY
I felt the trip was a complete success although there's
never enough time to do everything! I received an email while there and we were
asked to visit a home where the image of a girl with a greenish appearance was
seen the night before. We weren't able to do that investigation because of time constraints.
I think the best part of my trip however was the opportunity to spend time with
good friends and fellow team members. Carolyn and Fran were my second family
while visiting there. They put everything else in there lives on hold so as to
be able to have this reunion with me. Then there is Jim
H. who has been my good
friend and one of my greatest supporters at GhostStudy since I started my web
site in May 1999. He was our guide to many of the locations we visited on Sunday. I want to
also thank my good friend Bruce as well.....He arrived back
in Los Angeles from a ghost hunting
trip in Nevada Sunday afternoon and met with us Sunday night for dinner and a
cemetery investigation.....Oh, and thanks to the psychics that helped with the
investigation through emails, they were a guiding light. The trip was successful because of the efforts
of these wonderful people. I feel that to be able to get together with great people and
investigate and talk
freely about ghosts, well is just about as good as it
gets! :)
