It's his Indian girl
guardian!
Irma writes, "I am resending this photo to you because the earlier one was
scanned from a sort of washed-out color photo. This one I scanned in black and
white. The Indian face above the head of the little girl is much clearer.
Doesn't take too much study to see it.
There seem to be many faces on the left also but I cannot say for sure. Would
appreciate your scrutiny." After writing Irma back
she replied with this. "Someone looking
at this picture commented that Indians don't part their hair on the side. I then
looked at the picture as if the hair were parted in the middle and saw a pretty
face looking down at the same angle as the child. I hadn't noticed that before.
What first appeared as an old Indian man is really a young Indian girl (I
think.) This picture gets stranger and stranger."
