Megan writs, "I was
installing some new
software for a webcam I
had laying around. I
didn't want to photo
myself just yet so I
turned the camera away
from my desk and pointed
it towards my hallway
area. Well the software
I was using takes a
picture every 5 seconds
and saves them to a
little movie strip for
you to upload later. I
was reading the faq and
it was covering the
program window. When I
closed it I looked at
the photo strip and saw
a dark smudge in one of
the photos. I opened it
up to get a closer look
and found this. At the
time the pictures were
taken my boyfriend was
at work and I was home
alone. I am ruling out
that it could be the
shadow of anyone for
that reason. And also
it seems a bit thick and
dark to be a shadow
caused by a 50 watt
bulb, which is what I
use in my kitchen. (The
only light source save
sunlight in the room) I
must admit I've never
been prone to ghostly
activity and while I
find it interesting, I'm
not a fanatic. I've
tried to look at this
from every perspective,
I've tried to recreate
the photo, I've checked
the exif headers and
resized the photos, but
I'm still not able to
come up with an
explanation. The only
thing that I can
attribute to causing
this, is the fact that
the attic door is right
above this spot in the
hall and we had to move
a bookcase from the spot
so the cable guys could
rewire the attic the day
before. Anyhow, review
the pictures, and if you
think they're worthy,
feel free to post them.
There are two control
photos included as well
in chronological order.
First nothing, 5 seconds
later the shadow, 5
seconds later nothing
again."

These photos were taken at
the Castle de la Rotta, near
Turnin, Italy. The castle
has a long and rich history,
which included many tragic
deaths. This is a listing
of some of those deaths: The
castle was occupied by the
Knights Templar for over 200
years, until King Philip the
IV of France decided in 1312
that they were getting too
rich and powerful, so he
ordered the Knight Templars
to be hunted down as
Heretics. Many Knights were
captured, tortured and
burned at the stake as a
result. In 1631, during the
plague, over 300 bodies were
buried under the castle. A
15 year old girl who was
being forced to marry a
former owner of the castle
threw herself from the tower
to her death on the day of
her wedding. Her wedding
day was June 15th
(unknown year), and her
ghost and the ghosts of her
wedding guests have been
known to show themselves on
that day. Her haunting is
very chilling, as her
screams can be heard as she
throws herself from the
tower. The current owner is
Count Olivero, who restored
one wing of the castle and
lives there with his
family. He has also made
the castle into a tourist
spot, and encourages visits
from ghost hunters and the
media who may get lucky
enough to capture something
on film. And lucky they
have been. The first photo
is that of a ghost that was
physically seen walking to
the chapel. It was then
caught on film. The second
photo was captured by a
television crew as the ghost
emerged from a wall. The
popular belief is that this
is the ghost of a Knight
Templar. The last ghost
photo shows a ghost wearing
a heavy cross. It is
believed that his name is
Arturo, and he is always
seen galloping across the
courtyard on a ghostly
horse. He wears a robe and
heavy cross about his neck.
He has been sighted many
times. Oddly enough, in
1980, during excavation of
the dried moat, the
skeletons of a hooded man
and horse were found.
Whether they were buried or
dumped into the moat is
unknown. The man’s skeleton
wore a heavy iron cross, and
the third photo was snapped
2 days after the skeletons
in the moat were discovered.
