Lesson - Objects in front of the lens!
Just for fun we decided to list some of the more obvious examples of "lens crash". We call it that because these objects tend to "crash" the party, so to speak. They show up in front of the lens at the most inopportune times. And it's almost always the photographers fault. Those of you that are new to ghost hunting need to pay particular attention to this lesson. The photos below give us an indication of what can show up in our photos when we aren't paying attention to our surroundings. These are rather obvious examples, but a lot of times they aren't so distinguishable. So here are a few basic rules in order to avoid some of the most common problems:
Basic tips for avoiding Lens Crash
1. Never smoke or allow smoking on a ghost hunt
2. Never hold anything in your hands (other than the camera) when taking pics
3. Never use a camera strap while ghost hunting
4. Avoid times of day when bugs are most prevalent (dusk, etc)
5. Never take photos in moist conditions. Before during or after rain or snow.
6. Pay attention to anything close to the lens when snapping a picture.
7. Tie long hair back or hold camera away from your face.
8. Hold your breath when snapping a picture during cold weather.
9. Make sure your fingers are help away from the lens at all times.
10. Keep your lens clean!
