Natalie writes, "After spending a day clearing out
cupboards in my house I came across some photos of my son Harry's
first birthday party. In this particular photo I was amazed to see
that there seems to be a red vortex? I have not had the photo looked
at but thought I would send it in to see what you made of it?"
Jim's comments: As
you all know, the color red can and usually does indicate a film error, but not always. This
appears to be twin vortices that are grounded. The term grounded is very
important because almost all funnel shaped vortices are grounded like
this. That's one of the indicators I look for when distinguishing a
vortex from something else. However, a "spinal vortex" is not necessarily
grounded as their cousin (so to speak). :)
