Haunted Barnsley
mansion!
Kathy writes, "I work at
a resort that was built on the land owned by Godfrey
Barnsley. He purchased the land in the 1800's to
build an Italian villa for his wife Julia. Julie
died in the mid 1800's of TB (she passed in
Savannah) but according to Godfrey's diary she
visited many times after she passed and urged him to
finish the house he let sit after her death. Well,
Godfrey passed away on the grounds, as did his
children, confederate soldiers, servants, etc.
There are about 200 people buried all over the 1800
acres of Barnsley Gardens. In 1999, the land was
purchased by Prince Fugger of Germany and restored
exactly the way Godfrey had wanted it. However, we
left the mansion in its ruins state for posterity.
Now it is the center of a beautiful small luxury
resort with a lot of history. Anyway, we have a
resident historian, Clent Coker, who has dedicated
his life to the Barnsley's and he wrote a book. I
was thumbing through the book looking at the photos
in the section and I came across the one attached.
I found it interesting as the figure on the bottom
right cannot be a shadow as the lighting is in front
of the small rock garden the photographer was
standing behind. There have been tons of sightings
at Barnsley. I was even mocked by an entity as I
was calling a co worker. None of the spirits are
hostile AT ALL, just there and they make themselves
known quite frequently. Well, see the attached

attached a photo of the ruins just so you can see
them in the day."

This is a fascinating photo of a transparent
apparition. This isn't an effect of the
light, nor is it a statue. We weren't able
to determine what the object is in his hands,
but he apparently had no problem with being
photographed. It makes me wonder if he
wasn't trying to tell or show something. |
