LESSON -
Window ghosts aren't always what they seem
Reflections from objects
away from windows can appear as a ghostly image

Ghost peeking out of the currents is actually a street
light reflection

This close-up leaves no
doubt about the
light pole producing the window image
Ghostly reflections usually have a logical explanation
Obviously, a good paranormal
investigator will always look for any and all logical
explanations for an anomaly within a photo first.
That's particularly true when it comes to windows. The
above photo is similar to a "soft ghost" photo accept
for the fact that we have proven this one to be a false
positive. It has a logical explanation. A "soft ghost"
photo however, would leave enough doubt for
consideration. We know from experience that ghosts do
have an ability to appear within a window pane,
especially on film. In some instances they seem to use
such a substance to display themselves more clearly.
However, when dealing with windows we have to consider
trees, clouds, sky colors, and everything else within
the range of a window when considering a ghost image
within. Clouds & tree-branches are usually the problem.
Indoors it's usually furnishings or live people! We here
at Ghoststudy reject most window photos because they're
simply not conclusive enough for consideration. But....
don't get us wrong, we truly appreciate a good window
ghost capture, so keep them coming! : )
Here is the letter we reviewed with the photo
Mark writes, "I have had a few paranormal
experiences in the past playing the Ouija board too
much, but I have never caught an image on camera
before… Well, I stopped at Valentown museum (which
is closed for renovations and the season) to get
some snaps of the building to play with my new
camera. I heard that there have been haunting
reports there and a haunting show was sponsored
there (I don’t know which), so I thought maybe there
was a chance I would see something. Well, I guess I
did, but I don’t know what to think. The camera I
used is a Sony R1, and it has gobs of resolution for
your analysis pleasure (see attached). Anyhow check
out the 2nd window from left on the
bottom row. See him? Pretty clear to me. Let me know
what you think."
