LESSON -
CAMERA APERTURE IMAGES !
Sometimes discoveries can be made completely by
accident. Such is the case with "caspers".
Several years ago, while conducting an experiment with
rain orbs in my back yard, I made a very interesting
discovery...apparently the aperture openings of our
cameras can create oddly shaped orbs. I was taking
photos during light and moderate rain, with the intent
of creating rain orbs. It was during this
experiment that I solved a mystery that had been
puzzling me for a while. I was getting oddly
shaped orbs that looked like two brackets put together
{} in my photos for some time.
During my backyard rain orb experiment, I tipped my
camera so that the lens was pointing straight up at the
sky. It was an old 35mm camera that I was
retiring, so I didn't have a problem with getting it
wet. My intent was to get some raindrops directly
on the lens to photograph. When I snapped a shot,
I happened to be looking directly into the lens, and was
surprised to see that my aperture opening was the exact
same shape as the odd orbs I'd been capturing in my
photos! I dubbed them "caspers" because Casper
wasn't a real ghost, either. ;)
We have since come to find that caspers can appear in
different shapes, such as diamonds, hexagons, bells,
stars, and even bird or airplane shapes. If you
see orbs in your photos that are odd-shaped (anything
but round), please be sure to check your aperture
opening by clicking your camera once while looking into
the lens. Be sure that your flash is turned off or
covered up first, though! Odds are very good that you'll
see the same shape in the opening of the aperture.
Watch the aperture all the way through opening and
closing.
We'd sure love it if folks would send us information on
the type of camera that they use, and the shape of the
caspers that they cause to further our research on
caspers.
Please send your information to me at
darkangel@ghostfacts.com
and we'll put together a list of camera types and the
caspers that they cause for future posting. It
would be great if a sample photo could also be included.
