Conference and investigation of Virginia City, NV
Ghoststudy team members and our partners at the Northern California Paranormal
Research Society attended this Ghost conference on October 13th & 14th. It
was hosted by Janice Oberding (author of Haunted Nevada), Michele Hardison, and
Khris Hamlet. Many topics were covered including EVP, spirit photography, intuitive's
perspective to ghost hunting, finding ghosts, and the art of interviewing and researching.
Round table discussions and photo sharing were also part of this great
conference.
Our field investigations while
in Virginia City
Virginia City is
considered to be one of the most haunted cities in the United States! I'm sure
that any of the local residents can tell you of ghostly occurrences that they have experienced
or continue to experience in this haunted city. We visited many haunted
locations while there including the following:
- Haunted basement below town
- The basement was located below a restaurant on the main street. This was the
most haunted location we visited. To get there we had to travel up a steep and treacherous
slope to reach the back entrance. This was the most active site we visited and
everything about it was spooky! We captured many orbs on video including one
that appeared on the stairs. It seemed to be watching us and then it sped off to
the right - Click here to see the video Several
in our group were experiencing many odd sensations while there including
feelings of warmth, chilling cold, and impending danger. The camcorder that I was
holding would become very distorted at times indicating a presence in front of
the lens.
.
- Fourth Ward Schoolhouse - We
separated into groups while visiting this haunted school house. Some of us were
able to obtain permission to visit areas that are normally restricted. The
activity there was phenomenal. Many orbs were seen during video taping but those
portions of the film were never captured on the playback (very odd). Other teams
reported strange noises in one of the class rooms. The interpretation of these
noises were different but the sounds were heard by all that were present. Some
of the explanations were scratching on the chalkboard, rattling shutters etc.
Many other sensations were also felt by those that were sensitive.
.
- The Silver Queen Hotel
Most of us procured rooms at the haunted Silver Queen Hotel during our stay.
Two of our group heard a huge fight from their separate rooms in the middle of
the night. Surprisingly enough, this is the same fight that has been heard by
ghost hunters and others for years. It is a documented fact that this fight
occurs regularly by ghostly occupants. It is described as an older man and
younger women shouting obscenities at one another. There was also an incident
witnessed by Jackie Riley and myself at 1:30 am where a white mist was covering
the far side of the upper hallway entrance. We witnessed this with our eyes from
our doorways (rooms 7 & 8) while looking up in that direction. Nothing
showed up on film however. The other incident that I am aware of is that someone
captured a possible apparition on video in the main lobby during the conference.
For a haunted experience I would suggest you definitely stay at the Silver Queen
Hotel! :)
.
- Other ghostly experiences
There were many exciting and ghostly experiences by all including an incident
with Jackie Riley. She experienced pressure in her chest
and then a "caving in" sensation as she entered
the very area where a man was recently killed (shot in the chest) while attempting
to attack an officer with a knife. The street light also went out at the time
Jackie entered that area! On a final note, I took a picture of a sign next to
a school where someone had removed two of the letters. The unusual thing however,
was that the picture came out enhanced but yet the camera was not in enhanced
mode. I took a second picture with the same enhanced results. I
include those pictures here for your examination. I won't list all the
phenomena experienced by group participants but I would encourage others that
are looking for high adventure of the ghostly type to attend the next conference
or simply visit Virginia City, Nevada!
