Most people with a severe haunting will never tell a single soul outside of their family. They will keep the haunting to themselves for one or more of the following reasons:

1. They are afraid the haunting will become more active.
2. They fear no one will believe them.
3. They distrust others with this information outside of their home.
4. They don't want to appear crazy
5. They are afraid "telling" will be more trouble than it's worth.
6. They fear the house would need to be disclosed as haunted.
7. If renting, they are afraid they might stir trouble up for the landlord
8. They develop a relationship with it and are afraid to see it end.
9. They are introverts and are thus wary of the extra attention.
10. They are afraid of publicity.
